Richard Peat studied with Peter Maxwell Davies, Rhian Samuel and Paul Max Edlin. He received his composition doctorate from City University in 2007 and his music has been performed by the London Sinfonietta, Martyn Brabbins, Stephen Layton and Nicholas Cleobury. Fiery the Angels, for baritone and brass quintet, was recently broadcast on BBC Radio 3. His research interests include: Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, the harpsichord in recent music and the representation of children in opera.
