Tremolo

Bowed Tremolo is produced by moving the bow up and down very quickly.

Two further notations can alter the effect slightly:

Al tallone - "at the frog" produces a heavier sound by concentrating the tremolo on the lower third of the bow.
Punta d'arco - "at the tip" produces a lighter sound by concentrating the tremolo on the tip of the bow.
