Details: Composers of any nationality and without age limit are invited to submit compositions for Trio Klavis’ instrumentation violin, alto saxophone (doubling also on tenor saxophone) and piano (Duration: 10 to max. 15 minutes).

The Gustav Mahler Music Composition Prize was founded in 1995 and is characterized by openness to all musical directions. Submitting composers are encouraged to experiment and re-think stylistic boundaries. The integration of improvised elements is also possible.

The jury ́s decision is final and will be made in April 2020.

THE PRIZES:
• 1st Prize (sponsored by the City of Klagenfurt):

• 3rd Prize (sponsored by Musikforum Viktring---Klagenfurt):
Euro 3.000,------ Euro 1.500,------ Euro 500,------

Additionally the ensemble will award a Trio Klavis-Special-Prize, independent from the jury.

The chosen piece will be added to the ensembles repertoire.

SUBMISSIONS:
The compositions are to be submitted in the form of five hard-copies of the musical scores by mail and as a PDF file per E-mail to office@musikforum.at. A MIDI recording of the work is considered extremely helpful, but not required. The competition is anonymous. No indications to the identity of the composer may appear on the score or the PDF file. Only the title must be written on the cover page. Full first and last names of the composer should be written in the body of the Email!

The filled-out and signed application form, as well as a biography are to be enclosed in a sealed envelope, with nothing else but the title of the composition written on it.

All materials are to be sent via post by the 15th of March 2020 (date of postmark applies) to the following address:

The composers of the chosen pieces commit to be present at the premiere (travel and accommodation expenses up to 250€ will be reimbursed by the Musikforum Viktring-Klagenfurt). Parts must be sent in by 1st of May 2020.

The submitted pieces may not be publically performed or published before the premiere in Klagenfurt on June 19th 2020.

The composer provides the sheet music (scores and parts) on time and free of charge. Each participant can submit only one composition.

CHECKLIST:
* Five copies of the musical scores (anonymous)
* The application form (more information on www.musikforum.at) + a biography in a sealed envelope (with the title of the composition on the cover)
* An E---mail with the PDF file of the musical score sent to office@musikforum.at
