Summary:Two competitions
Deadline: 06 January 2020
Date Posted: 13 November 2019
Details: The FSO is very excited to announce two composition competions for young, local composers - the winnning pieces will be performed at one of our concerts in 2020! The winners will feature in our publicity and be guests at the concerts along with some family and friends.

This is a fantastic opportunity for those of you who are developing your composing skills; your piece could be performed by one of the top amateur orchestras in the south east under the baton of our Artistic Director Bill Carslake, himself a composer who is passionate about mentoring and encouraging young talent.

Fanfare Competition - deadline 1st December 2019

We are looking for a short fanfare to announce the start of the second half of our January Family Concert at Princes Hall, Aldershot. It should be solely your own work, no longer than 2 minutes, and precise scoring details are given in the application form here. This is open to anyone who was 19 or under on 1st September 2019. Full terms and conditions and how to apply are all in the application form. Under 18s need to get a parent or guardian to fill in the application form on their behalf.

Young Composer Competition - deadline 6th January 2020

We are looking for an original orchestral piece, no longer than 5 minutes, which may be something that you have already written, or you may write it just for this competition; in either case it must be solely your work. This is open to anyone who was between 13 and 25 on 1st October 2019, and who lives locally (or has a base locally, if they are currently away studying).

You can download an application form here, which includes contact details if you have any queries, as well as all the entry requirements and terms and conditions. Please check that you meet the entry requirements and fill in all parts of the form before you send it in.

Before you apply
Please make sure you have read our privacy policy so you know how we will store and use your personal data. Please take care to fill in all the details that we need - the two forms are slightly different because of data protection requirements for younger people. You are welcome to enter either competition or both as long as you meet the entry requirements.

Good luck!
