Composers, students, and community members are encouraged to submit original compositions written for a full symphonic pops orchestra. The deadline for submissions is August 19th, 2019. Applicants are encouraged to consider one or more of the following themes in their submission: -In the Shadows -Silk Road -Festive Holidays -Fairy Tales & Storytellers -Wild West Full symphonic instrumentation is preferred. Maximum suggested performance length: 13 minutes. Winner(s) will receive a small honorarium and an opportunity to have their work performed, live, in the 2019-20 season. Entries should include a legible full score and be clearly marked with the composer’s name and contact information (name, address, e-mail and phone). Where possible, please also include a recording or sound file of the composition. Finalists will be notified in early September 2019 and requested to send orchestra parts for the final screening. Entry fee is $10. Entry fee can be paid by check payable to Reno Pops Orchestra included with hard copy submissions or for digital submission by Paypal donation via http://www.renopops.org/donate/. Paypal donations should list “Composer’s Night” and the applicant’s name and piece in the memo line.
