Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a submission fee?

No. In past seasons we did collect a small submission fee, but this year we have decided to abolish it. We do not wish to impose unnecessary financial burdens on composers and we are sensitive to the fact that some submission fees can feel predatory or otherwise encourage a pay-to-play mentality. We hope that composers will feel safe entrusting their works to us, and that they value the artistic cooperation between performers and composers that KC VITAs exists to foster. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization however, and we always welcome financial support from anyone--including composers--who are touched by our work and our mission to sustain and support new music. Donation information can be found on the Support Page.

How do I submit my music?

The buttons above will take you to the submission form for that category. Please read the submission guidelines carefully and answer all questions before uploading your files. The adjudication process is anonymous, so all identifying information must be redacted from your score.

How many works can I submit?

Please limit your submissions to 3 in total. That can be 3 in a single category or 1 in each, etc. Submissions beyond 3 will not be forwarded to the adjudicators.

When will I be notified?

All composers will be notified by May 1, 2019.
