The 2018 edition of the Composition Program at the Valencia International Performance Academy & Festival will showcase the music of emerging and established composers, and offer qualified composition program participants the opportunity to work with the VIPA Composition Program faculty members and performers in lessons, workshops and masterclasses. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to work with and have one piece performed by our resident performers at one of the VIPA concerts. Resident ensembles will be, once again, the critically-acclaimed Mivos Quartet (New York, USA), that will be featured in two concerts during the 2018 festival, as well as the brilliant B3:Brouwer Trio (Valencia, Spain). As soloists, we will have the stellar contribution of multifaceted percussionist and researcher Philippe Spiesser (Head of Percussion, Haute École de Musique de Genève) and outstanding violinist Mieko Kanno (recently appointed Head of Doctoral Studies, Sibelius Academy, Finland). Besides, we’ll have the invaluable collaboration of Prof. Manel Ramada (Head of Percussion, Conservatorio Joaquín Rodrigo, Valencia), who will join Mr. Spiesser on a spectacular percussion duet. VIPA will also offer workshops and/or panel discussions on special topics. Participants will be able to get feedback from faculty members during reading sessions with soloists and ensembles-in-residence. The program will take place on July 10-20, 2018, within the state-of-the-art facilities of the Conservatorio Superior de Música Joaquín Rodrigo in the beautiful city of Valencia, Spain.
