The Boston Microtonal Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the composition, performance and study of microtonal music. Since its creation in 1988, BMS has been devoted to raising awareness of the enhanced expressive possibilities that come from making new music with new musical intervals. For twenty-five years, BMS has pursued its mission through concerts, workshops, and classes in the Boston area and beyond.

Eligibility
Any person of any age or nationality.

Instrumentation
Compositions must be for solo trombone (alto, tenor, or bass; William can switch instruments mid-piece if desired), or solo trombone and electronics (live processing is acceptable, but fixed media is preferred; William can also work with analog equipment if provided, i.e. cassette, boombox, etc).

Requirements
Compositions should include the use of microtones, but the type of alternate tuning can be from any system (quarter-tones, eighth-tones, 72 Equal-Temperament, Just Intonation, etc.), and there are no restrictions regarding style or aesthetics. New compositions are preferred, however compositions that have already been performed are eligible.

Duration
Works may be any length, but preference may be given to works that are 15 minutes or less.

Time Frame for Submissions
Scores may be sent beginning Aug.1, 2017. The deadline for submission November 15, 2017. Any materials received after this date will not be considered.

Entrance Fee
