Music must be scored for the following available instrumentation: advanced children’s chorus up to 3 voices, with or without piano. Pieces with additional instrumental accompaniment (e.g. flute, percussion) will be considered, but performance will be subject to the availability of additional instrumentalists.

Submission Guidelines
• Composers may send up to two submissions.
• Scores should be submitted electronically (PDFs only) WITHOUT the composer’s name or any identifying information on the score or in the file name and metadata. Scores must exhibit professional engraving standards.
• Submissions should be written for the available ensemble.
• Submissions must not exceed a maximum duration of 5 minutes. Single movements of larger works are allowed.
• Recordings are strongly encouraged (MIDI realizations are acceptable) and should be submitted in mp3 format WITHOUT identifying information in the file name or metadata (information that would show up when imported into iTunes).
• There are no age restrictions; however, applicants should be in the early stages of their professional careers.
• Materials must be submitted through our online submission form.

Timeline and Results
• October 2nd: submissions received via our online submission page by 11:59pm.
• December 1st: winning pieces announced on the Women Composers Festival of Hartford website and Facebook page, as well as via email to all entrants.
• December 15th: winning composers must 1) confirm their attendance at the Festival, and 2) send scores, parts (if necessary), and recordings that include their name.
Important note: winning composers should plan to attend the Festival. This requires a Festival pass, which is $100 for professionals and $30 for students, adjunct faculty members, and seniors (ages 55+). If a winning composer cannot attend the Festival, their piece will not be performed and a runner-up will be chosen to take their place.

• April 1st or April 2nd: Children’s Chorus Concert

Other Information
• Winning composers will each receive 2 complimentary tickets for friends and family that may be used for the Children’s Chorus concert or for any other Women Composers Festival event.
