Details: Together with the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR), the City of Boulogne- Billancourt is organizing a Contemporary Music Pedagogical Composition Competition. The final round will take place April 4th, 2016.

Under the High Patronage of Mr. Pierre-Christophe Baguet, Mayor of Boulogne-Billancourt, President of the “Grand Paris Seine Ouest” Conurbation Community, the competition is open to young composers of all nations, up to the age of 35 at the date of January 1st, 2016. Registration is free.

Article 1 : Object of the 2016 competition:
Composition of a musical work specifically written for Conservatoire or Music School students of various levels. For example, as a reference point for France, the submitted piece may be intended for Regional (CRR) or Departmental (CRD) Conservatories.

Article 2 : Each contestant will submit only one composition, written for one of the categories from the following lists:

1- A composition for one of the following soloist instruments: harp, guitar, saxhorn, or tuba (advanced level, 8 to 10 years of study).
Duration: 4 to 7 minutes.

2- A composition for a duet (intermediate level, 5 to 7 years of study) including 2 of the following instruments:
a) violin, viola, cello
b) accordion, harp, guitar
One instrument must be chosen in the a) list and the other in the b) list. Maximum duration: 4 minutes.

3- A composition for a choir of equal voices – teenagers from 11 to 15 (intermediate level, 6 to 8 years of study), either a capella or accompanied by accordion, harp or piano.
Duration: 5 to 10 minutes.

Article 3 : The panel of judges will be composed of celebrities from the musical world (composers and teachers), a delegate from the city of Boulogne- Billancourt, as well as a representative of the SACEM – the French association of music authors, composers and editors – and shall be chaired by the Director of the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatoire or her representative.
The jury’s decisions are final and may not be contested.

Article 4 : Each contestant must include a cover letter certifying that the work they are submitting is new and has never been publicly performed nor received any award from another competition.
