Students (grades 1-12) are invited to write songs or melodies and submit them for consideration in the Springfield Youth Orchestra’s first ever Composition Competition. Three of these melodies will be selected by a panel of local composers and then arranged for full orchestra by composition students at Cedarville University. Submission of melodies will be via Youtube. Ten melodies will be selected by December 2015 and the ten finalists will have their melodies performed during the SYS fall concert. During that concert, one melody will be selected for an “Audience Choice” award. The adjudicators will select the remaining two winners in December 2016, and all three compositions will be performed on the SYS spring concert in 2016.
