The opening night of the 2015 edition of The Cottier Chamber Project will see the Royal Scottish National Orchestra perform Mendelssohn’s Octet for strings. As part of this programme, they will also perform the winning piece from our annual Composition Competition. The work, by a Scottish based composer, should be for between 3 and 5 players (from an available instrumentation of 4 violins, 2 violas and 2 cellos), lasting between 5 and 7 minutes. It should be possible to perform it without conductor, and should not have been performed previously. Scores and parts (preferably in PDF format, please contact us if another format is necessary) should be submitted by 5pm on Friday 3rd April 2015 to competition@cottierchamberproject.com. Shortlisted works will be rehearsed in a workshop (open to composers – please contact us to request an invitation) on 20th April, following which a winner will be selected. The winning composer will receive £500, with the première of the work taking place on 5th June 2015 at 8.30pm, and a second performance in Edinburgh on Sunday 7th June 2015. Please contact Andy Saunders (Artistic Director) at competition@cottierchamberproject.com if any extra information is required. www.cottierchamberproject.com www.rsno.org.uk |
