The Respighi Prize

 The Respighi Prize
Deadline: 30 June 2014
Date Posted: 13 January 2014
Details: THE COMPETITION

Objective

The Respighi Prize has been established to encourage and offer a performance opportunity for young talented composers and soloists through the inspiration of Ottorino Respighi’s music.

The Competition and Ottorino Respighi

The Chamber Orchestra of New York was established for leading young professionals, and to promote the music of renowned composer Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936) alongside the orchestral repertoire. Known for his Roman trilogy (including Pines of Rome), Respighi’s orchestral works are considered the culmination of the Italian symphonic repertoire. Equally important, Respighi embraced the continuity of tradition with a love of the ancient world, a respect for antiquity, and thereby promoted a renaissance of musical ideas within the context of late 19th and 20th century elements.
