Details: Established in 2012, the all-cello ensemble Celli is made up of cellists from the UC Berkeley

Symphony Orchestra. This season, Celli will commence its inaugural 2013 Celli National

Composition Competition, for composers to show off their talents by composing a work

for 4-12 celli. The winning composition(s) will be featured in a Celli concert on the UC

Berkeley Campus in Spring 2014 and the composer will receive a CD of the performance.

Runner-up compositions will receive a recording of their piece.

All composition submissions must be submitted via email to wearecelli@gmail.com

by 11:59PM on December 15, 2013.

Applicants will be notified of their status on January 15, 2014.

Composition Criteria and Submission Process:

Composition should be an original, unpublished work for 4-12 celli. The composition must

be between 5-15 minutes in length. Multi-movement works are preferred but not required.

Composer's original material arranged and adapted for celli is also acceptable.

Your submission must include:

1) One PDF with complete score and parts.

File must be named “[composer name] - [composition title] PDF”

Ex: Harry Otter - Piece for 7 Cellos, Op. 4 PDF

2) One score in either Sibelius or Finale format for ease of playback.

File must be named “[composer name] - [composition title] AUDIO”

Ex: Harry Otter - Piece for 7 Cellos, Op. 4 AUDIO

3) In your email, please include the following information:

Description of Composition (inspiration, composer’s notes):

One copy of all submissions becomes the property of Celli, for rehearsal and performance

use. Composer retains copyrights of all works submitted. One duplicated copy will be made

by Celli for archival purposes.

Winners of the competition may, and are encouraged to, attend a rehearsal prior to the

performance, which will be arranged upon status notification.
