Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium

 Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium
Summary:Symposium call for scores
Deadline: 24 May 2013
Date Posted: 27 April 2013
Details: Composers and composer/performers will have their works performed or read and the opportunity to sing or play as part of the American Creators Chorus & Ensemble (ACE). Composer/performers and performers will be mentored by our artists-in-residence: Craig Hella Johnson (conductor of our chorus), Fireworks New Music Ensemble, and Beta Collide. They may also choose to participate in the Improvisation Group and/or the Composers Gamelan, which will present music composed by its performers.

Composers will meet with composer-in-residence Stephen Hartke in focal groups (3-5 students in each), where they will present their music and discuss it with him. In addition, composers will also share their music with fellow participants during daily symposium seminars.

The music of participating composers will be featured in Living Music I, II & III (a three-concert series), Virgin Ears Workshops (rehearsed readings), and three Wild Nights Cafes (including improvisation and gamelan performances). Participants will also attend major festival concerts, for which they will be given ticket vouchers.
