Details: The Workers Union Ensemble, in association with LSO Soundhub, are pleased to invite composers of any age and stage of career to submit new short works for a concert at LSO St Luke’s on 9th November 2013.
Up to four works will be selected and will feature alongside new commissions by Joe Cutler, Matthew Kaner and Daniel Saleeb.

This concert will be the final event in the ensemble’s PRS for Music Foundation funded ‘Constructing a Repertoire’ project.

The Heidi Cupp Prize will be awarded to one composer through an audience vote. The concert will be filmed and the selected works will enter the repertoire of the ensemble, and will be likely to receive further performances in 2014 and beyond.

New works should be a maximum of 3 minutes and scored for the full ensemble line-up (works for smaller forces will be accepted but given lower priority).

Instrumentation:


Oboe (doubling cor anglais)


Saxophone (soprano and/or alto)


Piano (no preparations permitted)


Double Bass

Percussion (2 players).

The use of recorded or live electronics and audiovisual elements is permitted. The following kit will be provided: stereo speaker set-up; a number of microphones; a laptop with Logic and Max/MSP; and a projector.
