Details: Carnegie Hall announces that Pulitzer Prize–winning composer David Lang, holder of the 2013–2014 Richard and Barbara Debs Composer’s Chair at Carnegie Hall, will lead a workshop for young composers and ensembles November 15–20, 2013. He will be joined by Claire Chase and members of the International Contemporary Ensemble to mentor participants in the process of creating, collaborating on, promoting, and premiering new works commissioned for the occasion by Carnegie Hall. Travel and hotel allowances will be provided for participants from outside the New York City area.

Carnegie Hall will commission invited composers to write 15-minute works to be premiered in a Zankel Hall concert at the conclusion of the workshop. Composers must apply together with an ensemble (suggested size of 3–15 performers, instrumental, vocal, and/or electronic) for which they wish to write.
