Finnissy/ Clarke/ EXAUDI : Independence Quadrilles

Trio Fibonacci's debut on NMC also sees the first appearance on the label of James Clarke, whose Piano Trio is joined by solo works for each of the three instruments. Michael Finnissy's Independence Quadrilles allows each line vertical independence from the others, while he has described In stiller Nacht as "an arrangement, or quite possible derangement" of Brahms' German folksong. The disc is completed with Gerald Barry's typically enigmatic In the Asylum.
