New daring season at NY Phil

At a press conference the new music director of the New York Philharmonic, Alan Gilbert, announced a daring new approach to programming, with an opening concert featuring Messiaen's Poeme pour mi and a new work by Magnus Lindberg, who becomes the orchestra's composer in residence for the next two years.
