BBC Present Gubaidulina Weekend
London's Barbican centre will this weekend host a major festival of the music of Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina entitled 'A Journey of the Soul'. Ensembles and performers involved will include the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal String Quartet, the London Symphony Orchestra, Valery Gergiev and the BBC Singers.The weekend, which runs from the Friday 12th to Sunday 14th (see concert listings), will see the world premiere complete performance of Gubaidulina's 'Triptych Nadeyka'.
Past composers who have featured in this annual event include John Cage, James McMillan, Mark Anthony Turnage and Eliott Carter.
