Alan Charlton studied at Bristol University for a degree and a PhD in musical composition with Raymond Warren, Robert Saxton and Adrian Beaumont and also studied with Peter Maxwell Davies. He was the first Eileen Norris Fellow at Bedford School and he is the author of several books on composition, GCSE and A level music. His compositions have received many prizes and have been performed by The Lindsays, BCMG, Crouch End Festival Chorus, Onyx Brass, Bernard Gregor-Smith and Nicholas Cleobury.
