Profile Winner of the 1999 Bearns Prize, Carl Schimmel has received honors and awards from the MacDowell Colony, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Seoul International Composition Competition, the National Federation of Music Clubs, the New York Youth Symphony First Music Awards, SCI, and ASCAP. He has received performances and commissions from the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, the California EAR Unit, Quintet Attacca, bass clarinetist Henri Bok, North/South Consonance, and many others.
