English Symphony Orchestra
Academia Musica Choir
Kenneth Woods, Conductor

Two of the great musical manifestations of the Napoleonic Wars form the heart of this exciting concert- Haydn’s Mass, performed by the hugely acclaimed English Symphony Orchestra and Academia Musica Choir, is a powerful plea for love and peace, while Beethoven’s Eroica is the greatest-ever musical manifesto in the cause of human liberty and freedom. The concert opens with a new tone poem by Philip Sawyers inspired by the paintings of Samuel Palmer, a work brimming with colour, melody and dram in the best Beethovenian spirit.

“This is the kind of music that gives one hope for the future of our art”
