FENELLA HUMPHREYS Violin

The repertoire for solo violin is rich with examples throughout the history of the instrument and virtuoso violinist Fenella Humphreys has engaged in an ongoing project of commissioning works inspired by, or which re-imagine, the solo violin works of J.S. Bach.

In this late-night concert she gives the world premičre of three new commissions, including composers well-known to the Festival, alongside Bach, Biber and the virtuosic show-piece by Ernst which re-imagines Schubert's famous lied Erlkönig in all its highly-charged tempestuous frenzy.
