The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation’s premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, brings the viola to the forefront in five distinct concertos for viola and large ensemble. Program includes two world premieres by both Donald Crockett and Chinary Ung followed by the New England premiere of Chen Yi’s Xian Shi and performances of Serenade #1 for Viola and Chamber Orchestra by George Perle and Suite for Eight Violas by Gordon Jacob.
