A Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and Stanís Cafe production

Tonight and for one night only, two major forces of British contemporary music and theatre come together in this exciting, all-Birmingham collaboration. First conceived 10 years ago, I See With My Eyes Closed is the fulfillment of a long-held dream between BCMG and Stanís Cafe, of creating a piece thatís not quite theatre and not a straight-forward concert.

Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, world renowned for performing and commissioning exciting new music, has, in talented composer Michael Wolters, found a match for James Yarkerís Stanís Cafe, one of the UKís leading contemporary theatre companies. Full of playful humour, MichaelĎs seductive new piece I See With My Eyes Closed is premiered alongside Igor Stravinskyís The Soldierís Tale Suite and Richard Caustonís Rituals of Hunting and Blooding.

ďGoing to a concert is always better than we expect it to be. We donít go often enough. The music is always better live than on the CD and thereís always so much more going on than the music. The BCMG players are looking beautiful tonight and are under the no-nonsense baton of Richard Baker, so please, donít be late!Ē

Michael Woltersí piece is commissioned by BCMG through its Sound Investment scheme, which involves individuals in commissioning new pieces of music.
