DIGITAL SUSTAIN: Metropolis Ensemble’s Curatorial Concert Series. As
New York’s premier professional chamber orchestra dedicated to emerging a new generation of composers and performers, the Metropolis Ensemble launches DIGITAL SUSTAIN as an interactive way to introduce contemporary artists in a casual, underground setting. Witness the evolution of composer Ryan Francis (b.1981) and the world premiere of his ETUDES for Piano. Francis will discuss the compositional processes and points of inspiration as well as their counterparts by Chopin, Liszt, Ligeti, and Bolcom. ETUDES for Piano serves as the launching pad for his new Piano Concerto scheduled to premiere at Metropolis Ensemble’s April 10th concert at the Times Center. In addition, enjoy the complimentary wine tasting and reception sponsored by SIMI Winery, while exploring the exhibits of the Chelsea Art Museum.
