ALARM WILL SOUND
Alan Pierson, conductor

American superstar composer John Adams (b. 1947) receives a portrait concert by the twenty-piece band, Alarm Will Sound. The program will range from “greatest hits” like the Chamber Symphony and China Gates, to less-performed works like his wonderful clarinet concerto Gnarly Buttons and excerpts from his song-opera I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky. This promises to be a raucous and jubilant evening.

John Adams : China Gates (1977)
John Adams : Chamber Symphony (1992)
John Adams : Selections from I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky
John Adams : Gnarly Buttons (1996)
John Adams : Scratchband (1996)
