The Festival Players are a hand-picked group of
internationally acclaimed musicians, invited to
Cheltenham for two outstanding contemporary
concerts and an innovative education project – the
Academy Players (see event 63). Kicking off our closing weekend’s focus on the music of Jonathan Harvey, tonight’s performance includes the contrasting drama of Harvey’s Curve with Plateaux with Schoenberg’s splintered melodrama. These sit alongside a lyrical, jazz-tinged BBC co commission from artist-in-residence Stockhausen, new music from enthralling young talent
Tabakova and an exclusive arrangement of Tchaikovsky piano music by English composer Blackford.
