Further Information

The title Disintegrated Amalgamation (2005) serves as an allegory to several processes at work within the composition. First, it hints to the construction of the movements: Meditation I presents the musical synthesis of the second movement, Event Horizon, and the third movement, Meditation II. Second, it alludes to the rhythmic construction: the perceived beat often disintegrates to the point where it is no longer apparent where the beat lies. This work was begun shortly after the Christmas 2004 Asian tsunami disaster and the impact of this event can be seen, as well as felt, in the music of the center movement.
