Description
As its name implies this is a fun, celebratory piece that evokes a feeling of excited anticipation. There are some technical challenges to this music (one presto tempo section and an extended double-tonguing cadenza) but they will reward the player willing to 'work out' their execution.
The overall range of Circus Prelude is comfortable in that it does not exceed a high b and its key signatures (G Major and D Major) are well suited to the soprano recorder. This piece would serve well as an encore or as part of a Canadiana programme.
