Hans Abrahamsen Biography

Hans Abrahamsen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, on December 23rd, 1952.

Abrahamsen played french horn at school, later studying Music Theory at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where he studied with Per Nørgård and Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen. His also part of a trend that is called 'New Simplicity' that became popular in the mid 60s, but his music contains a surrealist tendency which, like an Escher drawing suprises the listener with its unexpected sense of proportion.

Some of his most original works are the septet Winternacht, and the wind quintet Walden.
