Born in Dessau, Germany in 1900. Moved in 1935 to the U.S. Died in 1950. Well known for his Theater music, including the Threepenny Opera, Mahagonny and Lady in the Dark. Worked with Bertold Brecht on Mahagonny. Works by Weil are featured every year at the Kurt Weil Fest in Dessau, Germany (February - March.)
