To Touch the Wind
Dedicated to the memory of Julie Gilstrap, a student who was taken long before her time. The melody for this piece comes from an old Celtic ballad “Down by the Sally Gardens,” but the title comes from the quote by naturalist Hal Borland : “There are no limits to either time or space, only those such as man may make for himself. I have but to touch the wind to know these things.”
