Random Access Music / 2020 Queens New Music Festival
Summary:Piano Quintet (optional vocal) Competition
Deadline: 01 February 2020
Date Posted: 18 December 2019
Details: Random Access Music is pleased to announce its 2020 Call for Scores.

RAM seeks new concert music for quintet (flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano) with or without soprano. The RAM Players will perform the winning composition(s), judged by our RAM panel, at the Queens New Music Festival held in Long Island City, Queens, NY. Festival dates: May 13 - 16, 2020.

RAM is proud to continue our tradition of a no-fee, anonymous Call for Scores. There are no age, gender, or geographic limitations as to who may submit a score. RAM conducts this anonymous call for scores each year. A facilitator receives the scores and presents them anonymously to the panel of judges comprised of the composers and performer members of RAM.

Random Access Music’s 2020 Queens New Music Festival is honoring the centenary of the 19th Amendment, which extended women's suffrage throughout the United States. The theme of the festival, “…we, the whole people..”, is based on a quote from Susan B. Anthony’s speech after her arrest for voting in the 1872 presidential election.

“It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union. And we formed it, not to give the blessings of liberty, but to secure them; not to the half of ourselves and the half of our posterity, but to the whole people -- women as well as men.” SUSAN B. ANTHONY, speech after her arrest for voting in the 1872 presidential election
