Sound and Music Summer School

 Sound and Music Summer School
Summary:Summer School for Young Composers
Deadline: 08 April 2019
Date Posted: 06 February 2019
Details: What is it?

The Sound and Music Summer School is a week-long residential that gives you the opportunity to explore and develop your musical creativity. Whether you’re into songwriting or jazz, film music or classical, this is your chance to take things to the next level. Be inspired by professional composers, musicians and your peers; experience new
areas of musical creation from composing for moving image to writing for the
voice and expand the limits of your imagination!

How does it work?

During the residential, you’ll be able to work in your own style
of music-making, whilst also working with other composers and musicians to
explore new and different ways of making music. At the end of the week, your
new piece of music will be performed by professional musicians and you’ll
receive a recording of the piece of work you have created!

Who is it for?

SaM Summer School is for young composers and creative musicians
aged 14-18. You need to be a UK resident or a UK citizen living overseas. As
this is such a unique week, we may give priority to people who haven’t been
before over those who have been to two previous Summer Schools.

Where, when, how much?

Join us at The Purcell School, a specialist music school which is the perfect
environment for a week of creativity. The week takes place from the 4 – 10 August 2019. Attending the Summer School costs £500, which includes all tutoring, accommodation, food and activities!

Need some support?

We are determined that everyone who is accepted on the course should be able to
attend regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. Contact us if you
would like more information on how we can help.

We are also committed to being inclusive of young disabled people,
those with learning difficulties and other access requirements. You are welcome
to get in touch at any point in the application process to have a chat about
how we can best help you make the most of the week. Visit our Contact and Support page.

Ready to apply?
