I. LOW FREQUENCY TRIO Formed by Antonio Rosales (bass clarinet), Juan José García (doublebass), and José Luis Hurtado (piano), Low Frequency Trio is one of the few ensembles in the world that plays music that was exclusively composed for them. Its members are highly active in the international contemporary music scene and as a trio they have performed and held residencies at the Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras CMMAS, Festival Internacional Cervantino, and the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico, the University of New Mexico in the U.S., as well as the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes and the Conservatorio Manuel de Falla in Argentina. Since its foundation in 2016, LF3 has collaborated with more than 20 young and established composers in the creation and performance of new works for this unique instrumentation which collective sound is yet to be discovered and repertoire until now was practically nonexistent. II. LOW FREQUENCY GENERATOR Low Frequency Generator is the yearly platform that seeks new, fresh, and innovative works for Low Frequency Trio, a bass clarinet, double bass, and piano music ensemble based in Mexico City. II. ELIGIBILITY Open to composers of any age and nationality. Proposals must include the three instruments mentioned above. Proposals for solo pieces, duos, or other types of clarinets than bass clarinet will not be considered. Proposals can incorporate fixed electronics and/or amplification. There is no entry fee. III. PROPOSAL It is essential for Low Frequency Trio to be part of the creative process through the constant interaction between composer and ensemble. For this reason, we are not looking for finished works. Send us a score of a work in progress of a minute and a half maximum duration. The score must briefly but eloquently show the elements, aspects, and other concepts, to be developed throughout the piece. Low Frequency Generator 2017 The score can be handwritten or done with a music notation software. Our selection will be based on the score, the idea, and its potential only. With the exception of performance notes, there is no need to include any other type of explanation or verbal description of the work. For those works that will include electronics, a short sample of the sounds, textures, or trajectories planned to be used will be greatly useful. This however, is not required. IV. SUBMISSION Send us a score in pdf format. The file sent should be labeled: LFGenerator2017_Title of the work.pdf Click on the following link to upload your score: https://www.dropbox.com/request/oGspJeBPb1aKfH7I18zp Our call for scores in anonymous therefore, your name or any type of information that could reveal your identity should not appear absolutely anywhere (score and file). Therefore, once you click on the above link and upload your proposal, fill in the corresponding “name” and “last name” spaces with “1” and “1” respectively, as well as the email address space with “1@1.com" There is no need to upload any other type of file or document. V. APPLICATION DEADLINE All submissions must be received by March 15th, 2019, 11:59 pm, Mexico City time. VI. SELECTION At least three proposals will be selected. Each of the selections must be unanimously voted by the three members of LF3. The decision will be final. VII. RESULTS March 20th, 2019. The titles of the selected works will be announced in our facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/LowFrequencyTrio/ After the announcement, the composers of the selected works should contact us via our facebook page and will be only when, we will know their identity. VIII. COLLABORATION PROCESS The selected composers will compose a work for LF3 with an approximate duration of 5 minutes. Low Frequency Generator 2017 The work composed should be mainly based on the material originally sent/proposed. Depending on the country of residence, ensemble members and composer will find the way to be in constant communication to exchange ideas and receive mutual feedback (live, skype, email). There is no specific timeline to turn in the final version of the work. Once the work is finished, LF3 will schedule the premiere of the piece based on its calendar and programming needs. The composer commits to include above the tile on the first page of the score: “work composed for Low Frequency Trio as a result of its call for scores”. By participating in this call for scores, the composer accepts every clause contained in this document.
