Details: The New Orleans Chamber Orchestra and Spectri Sonori series are pleased to announce an open call for scores. The chosen work will be performed by NOCO at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, LA on June 15, 2018. The work must be submitted by April 1, 2018 and there is an entry fee of $30.

Eligible Works
-The total performing ensemble consists of 4 first violins, 4 second violins, 3 violas, 3 cellos, 1 string bass, 1 flute, 1 oboe, 1 clarinet, 1 bassoon, 1 French horn and piano.

-The submitted work must be scored for at least string orchestra, with the optional addition of the single winds, French horn, and/or piano.

-Works without strings and works for smaller chamber ensembles (i.e. string quartet or sextet) will not be considered. Solo works (i.e. concerti) also will not be considered.

-Works that have been performed are eligible, but works that have won prizes or been recorded and released professionally will not be considered.

-The work shall not exceed 10 minutes in length.

Submission Rules
-Composers of any age or nationality are eligible, but they must reside in the US.

-Composers need to fill out the submission form (click here or the button below)

-Composers can submit any number of works, but must pay the entry fee for each work.

-A $30 submission fee will be paid via PayPal as part of this form.

-The score of the work will be emailed to the following address:

-If selected, the composer must provide professional quality parts and score to NOCO by May 1, 2018.

Winner
-The chosen work will be performed at the Marigny Opera House by NOCO on June 15, 2018. The theme of the concert is “World of Dance,” but the piece does not necessarily need to relate to this.

-The chosen work will be recorded in performance.

-The composer will be reimbursed up to $500 for travel and accommodation expenses to attend the concert

-Competition finalists will be expected to provide a short CV, as well authorization for performance, online publication, recording and broadcasting of the work.
