GENERAL INFORMATION The Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation announces a master course for conductors and composers between 27 May - 2 June, 2018, in Budapest (Hungary). The call is open for conductors and composers of all nationalities. The course is suitable for advanced students and professionals with special interest in contemporary music repertoire. Professors: PETER EÖTVÖS, conductor and composer (Hungary) GREGORY VAJDA, conductor and composer (Hungary) ALESSANDRO SOLBIATI, composer (Italy) Featuring: DANUBIA ORCHESTRA Óbuda, Budapest, Hungary Special guest: Kathinka Pasveer (Stockhausen Stiftung, Germany) Language of the course: English, German, French, Hungarian Course program for conductors: Daily consultations, rehearsals and concert. Karlheinz Stockhausen: Punkte (Universal Edition) Arnold Schönberg: Kammersymphonie op. 9. (Schott Music) Thorough and detailed knowledge of all works is a requirement of active participation. Each participant must provide his/her own scores. Application material for active conductors: online application form, video recording, curriculum vitae with repertoire list, photo. The selection will take place based on the video recordings (ONLY youtube / vimeo links) provided by the applicants. Regarding the videos, we kindly ask you to send us recordings of rehearsals instead of concerts, and we also recommend choosing 20th or 21st century repertoire for conducting. Course program for composers: Daily consultations, rehearsals, analyses about Stockhausen’s Punkte. Solo, duo or trio composition for violin or / and viola or / and violoncello (maximum 10 minutes). Active composers will receive a video recording of their piece’s rehearsal. Application material for composers: online application form, curriculum vitae with list of work, photo and submission of a maximum 10 minutes solo piece for violin or violoncello. Application deadline: 15th April 2018 Confirmation of the active status will be sent until 25th April, 2018. Those who are not selected, are also welcomed as observer during the master course. Concerning the unique program we highly recommend to consider this opportunity as well. Application material for observers: online application form only. The course fee includes extra programs: during the course all participants receive tickets for jazz concerts in the Opus Jazz Club in Budapest Music Center and they can take part in a public meeting and concerts. All active participants will get a ticket Erkel Theatre for Senza Sangue / Bluebeard’s Castle on the 29th of May. The fee does not include travel, accommodation and meal, participants shall organize their accommodation.
