Details: Composers can submit unperformed works for piano or piano duo (4 hands 1 piano or 4 hands 2 pianos), of up to 5 minutes in length, to be workshopped as part of a new-music festival at St John’s Smith Square in Spring 2018. Curated by award-winning pianist and composer Rolf Hind, the Occupy the Pianos festival (20 - 22 April 2018) will explore a rich and varied selection of music for piano(s), instruments, voice and dance. The festival will showcase an eclectic mix of recent work alongside contemporary classics by Rădulescu, Vivier and Scelsi and explores themes and issues around politics, protest, spirituality and the inner world.
