This season, the Hamburg Camerata is looking forward to organizing the International Composer Competition for the first time and thus establish a new musical institution. This competition will take place every two years and focus on a different country. This first invitation for proposals is addressed to all composers who are either of Israeli origin or live in Israel and composers of all nationalities who refer to Israel in their composition thematically and are not older than 36 years on February 14th, 2018. The winners work will be the centerpiece of the 4th subscription concert on February 14th, 2018 in the Laeiszhalle, in which the Israeli Trio Mondrian will also be performing. The program also features: Ludwig van Beethoven: Tripelkonzert C-Dur op. 56 Felix Mendelssohn: 1. Sinfonie c-Moll op. 11 INFORMATION ABOUT THE WORK: Work for chamber orchestra Duration: Up to 15 minutes Maximum Instrumentation: 1 flute 1 oboe 1 clarinet 1 horn 1 bassoon 1 Trumpet Strings: 6/5/4/3/2 (4- or 5-string) At least 12 instruments must be used. Exclusion: The composition must not have received an awarded at another competition and should have been written within the past five years (compositions from 2012 on). Submission Date: December 1st, 2017 The prizewinners will be selected by a jury consisting of five distinguished personalities, including David Philip Hefti (composer & conductor), Simon Gaudenz (conductor), Johannes Fischer (composer) and Ashot Sarkissjan (Arditti Quartet), until January 8th, 2018. Prizes: 1st prize 3000 2nd prize 2000 3rd prize 1000 Eligibility: A premiere is preferable but not compulsory. The work may not be older than five years. Please pay the participation fee of 25 per composition to Hamburg Camerata GmbH IBAN: DE42 2007 0024 0734 1159 00 and send us a payment confirmation with the other documents by mail. Please send us your score and if available also recordings of the work(s) by mail. Please note: larger amounts of data should be sent via WeTransfer. All scores must be submitted by PDF! The scores must be submitted anonymously: the title and your name must be completely removed. Instead, please indicate the score using a 5-digit code of your choice. The following information must be inserted in a second PDF document: 5-digit code of your score, year of origin, name, address, e-mail, website, short biography. Works that provide information about the unique identification of your person are excluded from the competition. The award winners will be informed by e-mail. If your work wins, the entire rehearsal material must be sent at the latest to the Camerata (Hamburger Camerata gGmbH, Domstraίe 15, 20095 Hamburg) by 15 January. The decisions reached by the jury are final and may not be contested. The first winner of the competition is committed to taking part in the concert on 14th February, 2018.
