We are looking for a brilliant, versatile, collaborative, experienced theatre MD/composer for our new show, Dennis of Penge. This is the third collaboration between director Justin Audibert (SNOW IN MIDSUMMER (RSC),, MY MOTHER MEDEA (Unicorn Theatre), HOW NOT TO LIVE IN SUBURBIA (Pulse Festival, Summerhall, Soho Theatre); THE JEW OF MALTA (RSC); BEACHED (Marlowe Theatre, Soho Theatre); WINGMAN (Soho Theatre, Pleasance); RAYMONDO (BAC, Summerhall, Pulse Festival); and writer/performer Annie Siddons (Raymondo, How Not to Live in Suburbia, Rapunzel, Nutcracker and Mouse King, Alan Davies as Yet Untitled.) Wendy is one of the outcasts, the meek and the bleakly afflicted. When she meets her old friend Dennis in a chicken shop after 25 years, he makes her an offer that promises to change her life. But will she find the courage to follow him? And should she? This is a show about poverty, addiction, the city, and finding your mojo. Told in Annie’s visceral, heartbreaking, hilarious poetry, this show will combine spoken word, music and performance. Co-produced by Oval House, Albany Deptford and Bristol Ferment. Set in SE20, we want to pay homage to the S. London sounds of today without being hemmed in by them. We want to think laterally, and for the music to be as big in scope and sweep as the story. We want live music on stage - happy to combine electronic music with live instrumentation. There will be songs. Person Spec: Experienced Theatre MD/composer, with a track record of collaboration.
