Drake Music are announcing 4 new commission opportunities for London based Deaf / Disabled musicians, in partnership with 4 exciting organisations from across London, as part of our Connect and Collaborate programme. The second Drake Music Commission is in partnership with Upswing. Vocal Commission The Vocal Commission is an open call to those to who self-identify as Deaf or Disabled musicians, performers or artists who: -use music or sound within their professional work -are looking to develop and compose a new piece of music using traditional tools or supported by Assistive Music Technology The commissions are funded through City Bridge Trust and therefore are only available to London-based musicians (within the M25) We are seeking proposals from Deaf and Disabled musicians to work with and musically respond to Upswing’s latest project working with older people. Upswing will undertake a residency in care homes working with circus artists, residents, their families and care home staff. The commission will be to create a new piece of work in response to the process of Upswing’s project. This will involve: -Attending workshops within the care homes to observe -Facilitating one singing workshop within the care home -Attending Care Home sharing 9th November 2016 -Reflecting on the Care Homes project and creating a new piece of work (with a vocal focus) in response to the workshops, artist and participants you have worked with. -Through the partnership with Upswing, Deaf and Disabled Musicians will be able to reach new audiences and share their work. The final work will be presented at a showcase event alongside the other Drake Music professional commissions in March 2017. |
