The School of the Arts and Media teaches undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Creative Writing, English, Film, Media, Music, and Theatre and Performance Studies. The School’s programs in Music attract large numbers of well-qualified students to the Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts degrees. Major streams are offered in Creative Practice, Sonic Arts, Music Inquiry, and Music Pedagogy and the degrees may be taken in combination with many other UNSW degrees including Law, Science, Engineering and Media. About the role $98,546 - $116,171 per year plus 17% employer superannuation and leave loading. Salary will be paid on a pro rata basis for a part time role. Fixed term to 31 December 2019 1 x full-time or 2 x half-time The incumbent will contribute to teaching in jazz performance and composition, the Creative Practice stream of the Bachelor of Music, supervision of Honours and higher degree research students, and other relevant Music courses. The Lecturer in Jazz is expected to undertake and produce high level research or creative work in a relevant field of music. The appointee will work closely with other members of music academic and technical staff in performance, examination and audition activities. A suitable appointee may be expected to contribute to relevant teaching in other areas of the School. The position is available from January 2017, initially for a three year fixed term, and may be offered as one full-time or two 50% (part-time) posts.
