Cisum Percussion is hosting a composition competition! We have been writing and rehearsing over the past year to expand our percussion duet series "The Motions." With the writing process almost done and long rehearsals under-way we plan to record our debut album this summer and want you to be involved! Instrumentation Availability - 1 Marimba (5.5 octaves) - 3 drumsets - 2 14” floor toms - 3 16” floor toms - 3 12” rack toms - 1 10” rack tom - 1 14” wood hoop snare - 2 14” set snare - 1 13” piccolo - 1 10” firecracker - 1 kick drum (on floor tom legs) - 1 set of bongos - Various cymbals - 4 rides - double as suspended - 1 flat ride - 2 hi-hats (14” and 12”) - 5 crashes - 2 chinas - 5 splashes - 2 hand crashes (french and viennese) - 3 opera gongs - 2 Djembe (16” and 14”) - 4 tambourines - 2 10” double row - 1 8” double row - 1 12” single row - 1 pair castanets - 2 triangles (6” bronze and 6” steel) - 2 pairs of finger cymbals - 2 woodblocks (small and large) - 2 10” darbuka (with and without jingles) - 1 vibraslap - 1 ocean drum - 1 rainstick - Various shakers - Various glass bottles - Various metallic objects - 1 Cajon - Audio soundscape is allowed - Live electronics will not be used (ex. delays, distortion, etc) Awards: First place winner receives a $200 prize, a high-quality recording, featured on our debut album and a hard copy of the album. Second place winner receives a $100 prize, a high-quality recording, featured on our debut album and a hard copy of the album. How to Enter: Each applicant should submit 1 PDF score for percussion duet, 1 audio file (MIDI acceptable) of the same work, 1 bio and contact information (name, e-mail, phone number, etc) Works should be no longer than 6 minutes but must be longer than 3 minutes Entry deadline: All applicants must have materials e-mailed by July 25th 2015, winners will be selected and announced by August 1st 2015 There is no application fee and scores do not need to be anonymous.
