In conjunction with newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble’s 6th annual Composer’s Competition, we would like to offer one workshop participant the opportunity to win a commission. The winner of this competition will be commissioned to write a piece for performance at the 2016 Composition Workshop. The winner will also receive a full-tuition scholarship to the 2016 Composition Workshop, and the chance to work with newEar throughout the spring of 2016 to prepare their work for performance. To be considered for this competition, you must submit a trio written for a combination of the following instruments: flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, percussion, or piano (instruments may not be doubled; one player per part). Works should be 7-15 minutes in length. All submissions must be sent electronically (PDF format, please) and must include a full score and parts. Deadline to receive applications: March 1, 2015. Competition finalists will be announced April 15th. All finalists will receive a reading of their works during the workshop, which will include a performance as well as feedback. The winner of the commission will be announced during the workshop. Please send all submissions by email to Julie Koch (kochjc@umkc.edu). Submissions must be received by Sunday, March 1st. If your piece is accepted, we will notify you no later than April 15th. Please note: your piece will not be considered if we have not received your registration and deposit for the 2015 workshop by April 10th. |
