Details: The FRANZ LISZT-scholarship is aimed at young composers, who are offered the opportunity of a three-month stay at Weimar. Condition is an invitation to the composition workshop at the Weimar master classes. In 2015, the scholarship is granted for acousmatic composition (music for loudspeaker).

The scholarship recipient will be granted free accommodation as well as a monthly grant of 1,000 Euro for a period of three months in order to live and work in Weimar. In addition, recipient will have the opportunity to take part in the academic and artistic life of the LISZT UNIVERSITY of Music Weimar. The quantity and type of artistic work to be produced during the stay in Weimar are not prescribed. The recipient is free to shape his/her work in the manner they choose. The scholarship should be used during the school's academic semester.

The scholarship mentors are Prof. Michael Obst (instrumental composition) and Prof. Robin Minard (acousmatic composition).

Young composers are encouraged to apply. Applicants should preferably not be over 35 years of age. The competition is open to composers of all nationalities. Graduates of the LISZT UNIVERSITY of Music Weimar are not eligible to apply. Applications should consist of a cover letter as well as a curriculum vitae and at least one composition or acousmatic work. In 2014 there will be an emphasis on chamber music. Therefore, at least one composition should be written for (at least three of the following): piano, violin, cello, flute, clarinet. The application deadline is 30 April of every year.

Up to a maximum of eight applicants will be invited to a workshop which will be held in July in Weimar. At the end of the workshop in 2013, each applicant will publicily present one of hie/her acousmatic works on the SeaM loudspeaker orchestra.

Participants have to pay a participation fee of 150 Euro; accommodation as well as a subsidy for travel expenses will be paid for by The LISZT UNIVERSITY of Music Weimar. The preliminary selection panel consisting of, among others, Prof. Robin Minard and Prof. Michael Obst.
