Schott is a global company which, alongside its core music publishing functions, includes a CD label, a book and magazine department, its own printers, and a large distribution operation for both the hire and sale of sheet music. Its head office is located in Mainz, Germany with principal offices in London, New York and Tokyo, and additional offices in Prague, Madrid, Paris, Toronto and Berlin. This full-time, 6 month internship is with the London office’s Contemporary Music department. The Contemporary Music department is responsible for promoting the composers and works in Schott’s catalogue of concert music and stage works. These include some of the most well known works in the classical music canon, such as Orff’s Carmina Burana, Stravinsky’s The Firebird and Tippett’s A Child of Our Time. Schott publishes a vibrant group of living composers, among them Gavin Bryars, Alexander Goehr, Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Peter Eötvös, Jörg Widmann, and Krzysztof Penderecki. A full list of Schott composers can be found on our website. The focus of our work revolves around live performance. We work very closely with performers (orchestras, conductors, soloists, etc.) and concert promoters to get our music heard on the concert platform. We also work closely with agents, choreographers, radio broadcasters, record labels, and the press to raise awareness of our composers. |
