Summary:International Chamber Composition Competition
Deadline: 30 July 2014
Date Posted: 25 June 2014
Details: The 16th International Kozani Music Seminar announces its composition competition to be held in August 2014.

The competition is open to composers of all ages and nationalities. The selection criteria are musical and no extra-musical parameters such as gender, level of difficulty, nationality and age quotas etc will be taken into account. The only examined quality will be the text itself.

Unpublished works and works in the public domain may be submitted, including works that have been performed previously and won competitions in the past.

The duration of works is to be 5′-15.

Instrumentation:

-violin (2), viola, cello, piano, flute (dbl. piccolo and alto), clarinet (dbl. bass), unpitched percussion (1).

It is possible to submit works that are to be conducted.

Submitted works may use any combination of the above lineup; solo works may also be submitted.

It is possible to submit works for instruments+set recorded sounds (electronic and others). For more information on the available sound system setup please contact the IMSK.

Submissions

Submissions are to be made before the 30th of July 2014 to: “the 16th IMSK, c/o P. Demopoulos, Varnali 4, 50100, Kozani, Greece” including

-an unmarked, unnamed, bound full score
-the performance parts
-a separate sealed envelope with all the details of the composer (name, age, address, tel . etc) as well as a printout of the registration payment
-submissions may also be made electronically to: demoppp@hotmail.com, attaching:

1. an anonymous pdf of the full score
2. the performance parts in pdf format
3. separate folder with a scanned receipt of payment and all the details of the composer

Selection of works

The players of the group are the jury. They will rehearse all scores submitted once and vote for the works they wish to record. Irrespective of the number of submissions the 16th IMSK guarantees a fair allocation of rehearsal time and feedback to all the composers. If a greater number of composers submits works to the competition than is possible to rehearse, then the directorate of the Seminar will shortlist works and all unselected works will be returned along with a registration refund.

The decision of the group is final. Some works may be shortlisted for the 2015 edition of the competition.

The registration fee is 80 Euros
