The Fine Arts Department at Loyola University Maryland announces The Loyola University Maryland Prize for Music Composition. In its inaugural year, the Loyola Prize will be awarded for a choral work to be premiered by the Loyola Singers, directed by Dr. Daniel McDavitt, in Spring 2014.

Composition Guidelines

SATB choir and piano; intermediate difficulty level; limited use of divisi.
Duration no longer than 10 minutes.
May be sacred or secular and in any language. If text is not in the public domain, composer must provide written permission from the text’s copyright owner.
Must be an original composition (i.e. no arrangements).
Submission must not have been performed publicly, recorded for a publicly released album, or be under consideration by any publishing companies. As a condition of the award, the Loyola Singers will have the right to first public performance through May 31, 2014, and will promote the work through various media (department webpage, Facebook, YouTube, etc.). Composer retains all other rights.
